ARTIST STATEMENT
y work is based on the metamorphosis of ice into metal.
Water is our life source. My artworks pay homage to water, giving thanks, reverence, and a cause for celebration.
Ice is water in its purest form.
It constantly changes and evolves as we do. Ice forms found in nature inspire me and feed my imagination to recreate and rearrange.
My intent is for viewers to awaken their sense of wonder and to revel in the natural beauty and mystery found in nature: patterns, rhythms, color, and linear labyrinths.
Observers have an array of emotional responses to my abstract sculptures, and the experience may transport them to a memory association of their own.
My viewers are interested in the high level of craftsmanship, excruciating attention to detail, elegance, beauty, hints of nature, bursting color, and rich textures found in my artwork.
My conscious mind labors to physically attain this vision and manifest it into this dimension, and here it will live on, in bronze, long after the ice has melted.
IMAGINE WHAT HAS NEVER BEEN
My sculptural inspiration comes from ice formations found in nature. I turn ice into metal. No one else does this. Each piece is one of a kind. Like snowflakes, no two are exactly the same.
I utilize the “lost wax” method of bronze-casting to accomplish this task. The end result is very organic, and the work “feels” as if it is growing out of nature as well.
